Leslie Wallstedt is a California native who has lived in the Los Angeles area for 30 years.

She has a BA in Spanish from UCSB and an MA in Education from UCLA. She has studied and lived abroad in Spain and Mexico. Her long-time interest in tile, murals and tile-making has been fueled by her those years and her more recent travels in China, Cuba and Turkey. She is retired from her career in LAUSD as a teacher and counselor but over the years incorporated her devotion to clay into her curriculum and counseling practice.

She is a contemorary ceramic artist and sculptor. Her artistic process began around 18 years ago. This process has recently and interestingly morphed into compositions that are characterized by bold, whimsical, surrealistic statements using manipulated molds.

She has exhibited and sold her work for many years at the McGroarty Art Center shows in Tujunga. Leslie was invited to exhibit her sculpture there at Earth, Air, Fire, Water: An Environmental Exhibit Show in 2015. She also received a grant from the City of Los Angeles to create a large, public space mural in 2009. Her art is in several collections in private homes. She has exhibited her work at LA Galeria Gitana regularly and is included in the HERITAGE show opening in October 2016. She was also included in the Los Angeles Municipal Gallery show PLAY which just closed September 23, 2016 Leslie is also a member of the Angeles Crest Artist Guild. A reent work entitled RESTORATION will be included in the next show at GALERIA GITANA
